报告题目：Device-to-Device Communication for Load Balancing and Coverage Extension in LTE-Advanced Networks

As a promising technique, device-to-device (D2D) communication is expected to be of great potential in further improving the spectral efficiency of LTE-A networks. In this talk, we present a D2D communication based load balancing algorithm, which utilizes D2D communications as bridges to flexibly offload traffic among different tier cells and achieve efficient load balancing according to their real-time traffic distributions. Also, a stochastic geometry based analytical framework is presented to study the coverage probability and achievable ergodic rate. Besides presenting numerical results to show the performance gains that can be achieved by the considered D2D communication, we also identify the research issues which deserve further study.

报告人简介：

Jiajia Liu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees both in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2004 and from Xidian University in 2009, respectively, and received his Ph.D. degree in information sciences from Tohoku University in 2012. He was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) special research fellow in Tohoku University from Apr. 2012 to Oct. 2013. He is currently a Full Professor at the School of Cyber Engineering, Xidian University, and was selected into the "Huashan Scholars" program by Xidian Univeristy. His research interests include wireless and mobile ad hoc networks, performance modeling and evaluation, stochastic network optimization, IoT, LTE-A and 5G networks. He received the Yasujiro Niwa Outstanding Paper Award in 2012, and the Best Paper Awards of IEEE WCNC in 2012 and 2014. He was also a recipient of the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Students Abroad in 2011, the Tohoku University RIEC Student Award, and the Tohoku University Professor Genkuro Fujino Award in 2012, as well as the prestigious Dean Award and President Award of Tohoku University in 2013. He has been serving as the guest editors of top ranking international journals like IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing (TETC)、IEEE Internet of Things (IoT) Journal, etc., and serving as technical program committees of numerous international conferences, including WCNC 2013-2015, WCSP 2013-2014, etc.
