报告摘要：

This presentation explores the potential of multimedia technology across interdisciplinary applications. The presentation will cover our recent work in real-time object detection, and synchrotron-based cystic fibrosis diagnosis and transparent wood fabrication process improvement. Furthermore, I will discuss strategies for reducing the computational complexity and memory demands of machine learning, making them suitable for operation on embedded systems. In addition, I’ll give an introduction of University of South Australia and its successor Adelaide University after the upcoming merger. I will also provide an overview of other research activities conducted at the Multimedia Systems Laboratory at the University of South Australia and discuss our future research directions.

现任南澳大学副教授，可持续基础设施与资源管理研究中心（SIRM）技术开发负责人，国家超速计算资源分配计划（NCMAS）科学咨询委员会委员。曾任多伦多瑞尔森大学助理教授、台北佳得公司软件工程师、悉尼思科系统公司软件工程师。参与澳大利亚同步辐射中心第四代同步辐射光源“未来光源”项目X射线成像方法工作组成员。现任IEEE Transactions on Multimedia副编辑，曾任IEEE Communications Reviews and Tutorials编委和IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems客座编辑。曾多次担任国际会议主席或程序主席，包括2026年IEEE多媒体信息处理与检索国际会议（MIPR）、2013年澳大拉西亚计算机科学周会议（ACSW）以及2008年ACM CIVR等。主持或参与各类科研项目37项（其中19项为独立或首席研究员），包括ARC Research Hub for Intelligent Contaminant-Sensing in complex Environments (IC-SensE Hub)的5名主申报人之一及Program-2 co-lead。发表百余篇学术论文，涵盖IEEE TIP/TMM/TCSVT/TNNLS, ACM TOIS/TKDD, Advanced Functional Materials, Food Chemistry, Agricultural Computers and Electronics, 以及NeurIPS, AAAI, SIGIR, JCDL等国际顶级期刊与会议。入选The Australian Research Magazine 2024年度研究领域领军人物榜单，2022/2023年度REDI Fellow，2020年数Joint Conference on Digital Libraries（JCDL）最佳论文奖，2015年SPIE Defense and Security Conference洛克希德·马丁最佳论文奖，2007年Pacific Rim Multimedia Conference最佳论文奖。
